Do you know if you qualify for free Medi-Cal coverage?

  • Were you in foster care in ANY state on your 18th birthday?
  • Do you live in California now?
  • And are you younger than 26?

If you answered yes to the questions above then YES, you qualify!

Chidlren Now has launched a youth-friendly website [Covered to 26] to inform foster youth and their allies about the Medi-Cal extension to age 26. The website includes an informational flyer geared towards youth, a fact sheet, and a document with contact information for individual counties.

Online research and resources

September 23, 2013

The Alameda Youth Alliance recently shared a number of online information resources. Take a look and see if any of the following resources are useful to you:

1) The Summer/Fall 2013 issue of Permanency Planning Today, National Resource Center for Permanency and Family Connections (NRCPFC’s) bi-annual newsletter, focuses on permanency for older youth and young adults.

2) The We Connect Now website is dedicated to uniting people interested in rights and issues affecting people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on college students and access to higher education and employment issues. More on this online resource HERE.

3) Videos of presentations and panel discussions at the recent conference, Improving Outcomes for Foster Youth in California, convened by GRACE and the National Foster Youth Institute in coordination with Congresswoman Karen Bass are now available on their website.
